On the back of a conference in the Gold Coast, we had a few days as a mini break with my parents joining Scott, Jess and I.
When we picked up Mum and Dad, Scott had them believing that the accommodation wasn’t that great… it was anything but that! Kirra Beach Surf Apartments staying in the 3 bedroom, 2 storey penthouse meant amazing views of the beach and surrounds – 180 degrees.
Combining a bit of work and meetings with a mini break saw us fit in half day activities. Having been to the Gold Coast quite a number of times before we didn’t go to the theme parks but aimed to find different sorts of activities to do.
A drive up to Tambourine Mountain was charming where we experienced the glow worm caves, wandered down the cute main street (Fudge Heaven), had lunch at St Bernards Hotel with a fantastic view, and felt on top of the world at the Rainforest Skywalk.
Walks along Kirra Beach to Coolangatta, exploring Burleigh, shopping at Pacific Fair and meals at the surf lifesaving clubs like Tugun or local pubs such as The Coolangatta Sands Hotel, gave us a sense of being a local.
Picking up lunch from the Palm Beach Food and Farmers Market we drove through the Tweed Valley – Currumbin Rock Pools to Mt Warning and the Historic Tumbulgum Tavern
As it was Mum and Dad’s birthdays we had a couple of night’s out for dinner and then watching the couples dancing at the Tweed Head Bowls Club (very funny!) but seeing Daryl Braithwaite perform at Twin Towns was the best!
